Sugar Can Increase the Effectiveness of Antibiotics to Fight Bacterial Infections

Spoonful of sugar was not only easier for us to swallow the drug. According to a recent study, sugar was also to improve the performance of antibiotic drugs to fight bacterial infections.
Results of the study published in the journal Nature, May 12, 2011 edition shows that sugar can make some specific antibiotics become more effective in fighting infection from bacteria. The addition of sugar to the drug may increase the effectiveness of the treatment of several chronic bacterial infections, including staphylococcus infections and tuberculosis, researchers said.
